3/28/13

I have decided to cut the trip early and am heading home as we speak. I have gotten awful case of homesickness, and I think its about time I threw in the towel. I did have a great trip seeing all the sites, and I only spent 2,704 dollars during the entire trip. I guess adventure doesn’t have too much of a price in Chile!!

3/27/13

Went to see the Iglesia San Francisco and I have to say it does look a bit like san francisco, but there is a lot more art around the streets. There also a lot of food vendors on the street just strolling through the streets. The place isn’t that crowded though, and it seems like a nice enough place.

Decided to do a bit of shopping today at the costanera center, and I have to say that this is one of the biggest malls that I have ever seen. There are people everywhere around here, and everyone seems to be in a big hurry. There are LED water fountains all around the mall, and no shortage of places to shop. The only problem I have had today is finding a place to park.

Just saw the Metropolitan Cathedral, and I gotta say the portraits painted on the walls look amazing. I have to watch out for pickpockets in this area though, because people have tried to snatch my wallet TWICE in the same day. You would think that people would be nice living next to a church and everything, but apparently that isn’t the case.

Today I went to see the Cerro Santa Lucia it was quite the climb to get up there. I had to stop to catch my breath a few times, but once I got up there the view of the city was amazing. To see so many people on the streets below is just breathtaking. I think I can see the ocean from up here.

This morning I visited the Cementerio General de Santiago, and yes it is just like it sounds. I went to the cemetery and saw all the tombs. Most people went there to see where their friends or relatives were buried, but I just went there to see the architecture. There are amazing stone carvings on the side of each tomb, and there is no small amount of tourists here.

Today I took a ferry to go see the famous Easter Island Heads. Located on Easter Island, the heads are amazing stone statue heads facing the island path. It was originally believed that the people who made these were cannibals, and they eventually killed each other off. Though the back story is really tragic, the stone statues are a piece of art.

Decided to visit the first of my famous sites the Museum of Memory and Human Rights. There are a lot of people here and each of them are going to see a performance within the museum. I went to go see it and I didn’t understand their language, but the performance was still amazing to watch.

Just arrived at my hotel and the pool is amazing they let me keep a drink next to it. This place is awesome and so far everyone at the resort speaks english. I have walked around the streets to the different shops, but it seems like none of them speak english.

I’m on my flight now heading down to chile, and I am really hungry. I would pay money for some peanuts, but their like $5.00 per package and they are tiny. I am currently sitting next to guy who bought some coffee. He fell asleep with it, and I don’t think he is gonna drink it.
